ALIGN  ·  5 Disciplines

Five disciplines.
One method.

One method. Five disciplines. Each one a doorway into the same structured practice.

What every class carries

At ALIGN, every class discipline covers the 5 pillars of the method.

Below are the details of each class discipline: what you actually do in class, and what it asks of you in return.

Iyengar Yoga — ALIGN Yoga
Foundational

Iyengar Yoga

Alignment as medicine. Precision poses held with props — the structural backbone of the ALIGN Method.

Who it's for: Anyone with postural problems, back pain, or a desire to understand their body structurally. No prior yoga experience required.

Alignment is medicine. Iyengar Yoga uses props — belts, blocks, bolsters — to bring the body into correct alignment with precision and intelligence. Every pose is held long enough for the structural correction to register.

At ALIGN, Iyengar Yoga is the backbone of the method. It is where we see posture problems, understand them, and begin the work of correcting them.

This is foundational work. It is also the most technically demanding class we offer — not because it is physically hard, but because it requires attention.

Yoga Pilates — ALIGN Yoga
Strength

Yoga Pilates

Core, stability, and controlled movement. Yoga principles applied to Pilates-style sequencing for a stronger spine.

Who it's for: Students rebuilding core strength, those recovering from back injuries, and anyone who wants a functional complement to their Iyengar practice.

Core. Stability. Controlled movement. Yoga Pilates takes the principles of Pilates-style sequencing and brings them into dialogue with yoga methodology — building a stronger, more stable spine through deliberate, connected movement.

This is not a soft class. The work is precise and demanding. You will feel it in your centre — which is exactly where the work should be felt.

Therapeutic Yoga — ALIGN Yoga
Therapeutic

Therapeutic Yoga

Restorative, targeted work for back pain, stiff hips, and recovery. Structured around the body's needs.

Who it's for: Students with specific pain complaints — back, hips, knees, shoulders, neck. Suitable for complete beginners and anyone returning from injury.

Restorative. Targeted. Structured around the body’s needs. Therapeutic Yoga at ALIGN is specific, evidence-informed work for specific structural complaints — back pain, stiff hips, knee instability, shoulder tension, neck compression.

Each class is designed around a target area. The teacher adapts for each student in real time. Props are used extensively. The pace is slower — which means the work is deeper.

Ashtakriya — ALIGN Yoga
Classical, progressive

Ashtakriya

Traditional dynamic practice. Breath-led sequences building heat, endurance, and a disciplined moving meditation.

Who it's for: Students with some yoga background who are ready for a more demanding, traditionally-rooted practice.

Classical. Progressive. The eight-limbed path as a daily practice. Ashtakriya is the dynamic discipline in the ALIGN system — breath-led, sequenced, building heat and endurance through a disciplined moving meditation.

This is not a fast-flow class. The sequences are classical. Each pose earns the next. The breath is always the primary instruction.

Breathwork & Mental Health — ALIGN Yoga
All levels

Breathwork & Mental Health

Pranayama and nervous-system regulation. For anxiety, sleep, focus, and daily mental clarity.

Who it's for: Anyone dealing with anxiety, poor sleep, or mental fatigue. A strong complement to any of the physical disciplines.

Pranayama. Nervous-system regulation. Daily mental clarity. The breath is the fastest available lever for changing the state of the nervous system.

At ALIGN, Breathwork & Mental Health classes teach classical pranayama techniques from the Yogic tradition alongside contemporary understanding of how the nervous system responds to breath. The result: better sleep, reduced anxiety, improved focus, and a more stable daily baseline.
