Yoga Pilates by Seema™ is Seema's own format — a copyrighted method she developed by bringing yoga's alignment principles into Pilates-style sequencing. Mat-based, controlled movement that builds core strength, hip stability, and a stronger, more supported spine with a calmer mind.
Useful for desk-workers carrying chronic lower-back load, for women rebuilding strength after pregnancy, and for anyone who finds traditional asana too still and wants the practice to also build muscular endurance.
Where Iyengar teaches the body to hold a shape with precision, Yoga Pilates teaches the body to move through one with control.
The work happens in the muscles as they hold the pelvis steady, support the lower back, and keep the shoulders firm when the limbs are working. These are the muscles that modern life lets go slack first.
Once they switch back on, it changes how you stand, how you walk, and how your back feels at the end of a long day.
Classes are sequenced so each session builds on the one before. They are not harder for the sake of harder, but progressive — so the strength is consistently built.
The format draws on Seema's thirteen years practising in the Iyengar tradition, her teaching across women's health and prenatal care, intensive pilates studies and the lived experience of building strength back into bodies that life has worn down.
It is one of the formats most distinctive to ALIGN — you will not find it taught this way anywhere else.
